Srinagar, Oct 27 (KNS): National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday reached out to senior party leader and Eidgah MLA Mubarak Gul following his public expression of disappointment over being excluded from the expanded Council of Ministers headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, appointing him General Secretary of the party.

The development came shortly after Gul expressed displeasure over not being accommodated in the Cabinet despite his long political association with the National Conference and his experience as a senior legislator.

The appointment was formally announced by National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, confirming that Gul had been entrusted with the organisational responsibility of General Secretary.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Earlier in the day, Gul had expressed disappointment over his repeated exclusion from ministerial positions.

Speaking to reporters, the former Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker said he had attended numerous oath-taking ceremonies over the years without securing a place in the Council of Ministers.

The appointment of Gul to the senior organisational position followed Farooq Abdullah's outreach amid disappointment among some party legislators over the Cabinet expansion.

Gul, a veteran National Conference leader and former Speaker, has held several important political and legislative responsibilities during his career.(KNS)
