Srinagar, April 12 (KNS) :
President Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA) and Chairman Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO), Manzoor Wangnoo, has welcomed the “Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir” campaign launched by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, terming it a timely and much-needed initiative to combat a growing societal menace.
In a statement, Wangnoo said, “Drug addiction is not just an issue—it is a silent menace destroying families, shattering dreams, and pushing our youth into darkness. Behind every affected home lies a story of pain that cannot be ignored.”
He added, “As stakeholders in tourism and society, NTTA, along with NLCO, believes that a healthy society is the foundation of a thriving Kashmir. We will not confine ourselves to statements—this mission must translate into visible action on the ground.

Reaffirming commitment, he said both NTTA and NLCO will actively support the campaign through awareness drives, counselling initiatives, and engagement at grassroots levels, particularly in schools and rural communities, in coordination with civil society and the administration.
“Early intervention, awareness, and rehabilitation are key. We must act now to safeguard our youth and preserve the social fabric of our society,” he stressed.
Calling for collective responsibility, Wangnoo added, “This is not the responsibility of one institution alone. It requires a united effort—from parents, teachers, community leaders, and institutions. Real change will only come when action replaces words.” (KNS)
