Demands immediate release of Khurram Parvez

Srinagar, Sep 27 (KNS): National Students Union of India (NSUI) Srinagar on Tuesday sent a letter to Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and other senior leaders demanding immediate release of noted Kashmiri Human Rights Activist, Khurram Parvez.
Pertinently, the letter was also sent to Rajnath Singh (Union home-minister), Rahul Gandhi (Vice-president Indian National congress), Ghulam Nabi Azad (Leader of opposition Rajya Sabha), His Excellency N.N Vohra (Hon’ble Governor of Jammu and Kashmir), Ghulam Ahmad Mir (President JKPCC), Shahnawaaz Choudhary (General Secretary JKPCC) and Raman Matoo (Senior leader JKPCC).
As per the letter in possession of KNS, Zaman Irshad, District president NSUI Srinagar told CM that “I would with all humility and with enormous belief in your office, want to bring to your kind notice, the detention and slapping of Public Safety Act on a noted Kashmiri Human Rights Activist, Khurram Parvez, while one would not question the administrative policies of the State Government. But one must bring to notice such actions that tend to do more damage than good.”
The letter further reads that the act of detaining activist Khuram Parvez by the State administration and further slapping PSA on him, has undoubtedly proved to further escalate the already fierce inferno engulfing our State and this stand of the Government is validating the mass public opinion that the State Government is indifferent to the public agonies and won’t tolerate any kind of dissent against its policies, which further give boost and validates the point that the State Government is ruling with might, such acts ma’am are deterrent to our state in particular and to the nation in general.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The letter reads that “Respected Ma’am, in issues where the fear of further escalating the alienation of Kashmiri people is feared, Indian State has to show its diversity by showing its people that India as vibrant nation, as it is, is ready to accommodate any public dissent towards the Government, as our Constitution guarantees it, and as our framing fathers envisaged.”
“Respected Ma’am, it was in this regard , I personally chose the mainstream platform to express myself, as I strongly believe in the Constitution and in the collective consciousness of our nation, I believe that India as an exclusive, vibrant democratic nation can accommodate the variety of political ideologies, that strengths our bond,” letter added.
“Respected Ma’am, it is with this hope in heart, I write and request your good self, through your good office to intervene in this very serious matter, Criticism is a part of good governance. I request your good self to intervene and get noted Human Rights Activist Khuram Parvez released, as a good will gesture. An act to douse the flames of alienation lingering in the hearts. An act that would definitely absorb in the hearts and minds of the kashmiri youth. As an act of good will is reciprocated with good will,” NSUI District President Srinagar in a letter to Chief Minister said.
“Diversity should be seen as a source of strength, not weakness,” he added. (KNS)
