Srinagar, Mar 13 (KNS): National Students Union of India (NSUI), the students wing of Congress party, held a convention in Khanabal town in Anantnag district to create awareness among people about the “anti-people policies of the BJP government”.
Organised by Junaid Shah, the convention was presided over by NSUI state president Neeraj Kundan, who was also guest of honour. JKPCC state General Secretary, Hilal Shah was chief guest at the occasion.
Nearly 200 young NSUI activists from Anantnag district attended the convention. The convention was held to discuss the present situation in the state and across the country, targeting of students in universities, and slapping sedition charges on JNU students.
Addressing the convention, Kundan said slammed the BJP and RSS for polarizing people across the country and creating an atmosphere of hatred and fear.
He also criticised the PDP for “not taking up” the JNU issue and safety of Kashmiri students with the BJP government as vigorously as they could have.
“PDP president didn't make a single statement in the Parliament and didn't speak a word on Kanhayia Kumar, Kashmiri students are being harassed in JNU. Though PDP sent senior leaders delegations, but could not assure the safety of Kashmiri students,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“For power, PDP has forget its responsibility and has failed to take up issues of public issues with the central government. Though PDP had become a ‘contractor’ for Kashmiri but they are now exposed after JNU issue,” the NSUI president said.
Slamming the BJP, Kundan said that the BJP leaders and members are making anti-Muslim and anti-minorities remarks time and again, yet “PDP is not openly speaking against BJP because of the greed of power”.
The student leader said that the PDP has deceived people in the state after being given mandate by them to govern.
“PDP has neglected the people who voted for them and is now is posturing only to give perception that BJP will announces doles for continuing the alliance. But nothing will come out of the delay as BJP is known for ditching people and political parties. Only people will suffer due to absence of elected government,” he said, adding that PDP choose that party (BJP) which wants to decide for people what people will eat and wear.
The students said that Congress is a “pro-people” party and NSUI being its students union speaks for all irrespective of religion, caste or status of the people. (KNS)
