Notorious Drug Peddler Arrested with 11.5 Kg Charas in Sumbal

Sumbal, Feb 10: In a major blow to the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance in the Sumbal area of Bandipora district.
 
According to a police official, the arrest was made during a routine checkpoint established near the CRPF training camp in Sumbal. The police party intercepted a suspect and identified him as Sameer Ahmad alias Shatroo, son of Abdul Hamid Dar, a resident of Wangipora, Sumbal.
 
During the search, police recovered 11.5 kilograms of charas from his possession. The accused has been taken into custody and shifted to Police Station Sumbal, where he is currently lodged.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
“In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sumbal, and further investigation is underway,” the official said.
 
Police sources further revealed that the accused is a hardcore drug peddler with several FIRs already registered against him, indicating his long-standing involvement in illegal narcotics trade.
 
The arrest is being seen as a significant success in the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking in north Kashmir.
