Jammu, May 14 (KNS): The Northern Railway’s Jammu Division will kick off a 23-day special environment protection campaign from May 15 to June 5, 2026, to mark World Environment Day, a senior official said on Thursday.
The campaign, themed “Climate Change”, will be conducted under the Centre’s ‘Mission LiFE’ (Lifestyle For Environment) and aims to raise public awareness on climate change and promote environmental conservation, said Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Vivek Kumar.
He added that a series of activities will be organised across railway stations, offices, colonies and other premises in the division. These include tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, plastic-free premises initiatives, ‘Say No to Single-Use Plastic’ awareness programmes, water and energy conservation activities, plant distribution, street plays, poster and slogan competitions, walkathons and public rallies.

“The initiative will sensitise employees, passengers and the general public about the adverse effects of climate change and inspire them to adopt small, daily efforts for environment protection,” Kumar said.
Messages such as ‘Save Water, Save Energy’ and ‘Say No to Single-Use Plastic’ will be widely publicised during the campaign, he added.
The DRM appealed to all officers, employees and citizens to actively participate and contribute towards building a clean, green and sustainable environment.
The campaign is being organised as per the directives of the Railway Board and the Railway Headquarters, officials said.
Raghavender Singh, Public Relations Inspector, Jammu Division, confirmed the details. (KNS)
