Srinagar, Mar 08 (KNS): Dispelling the rumours that the youth from a Pulwama village who are in police custody have been slapped with Public Safety Act, Deputy Commissioner said that no such youth has been booked under the act.
“We have not slapped Public Safety Act to any youth who are in police custody. No such case has come to my table,” DC Pulwama Muneer-ul-Islam told KNS.
19 youth were picked up by police from Ratnipora village in Pulwama on Thursday night, the residents said, as police accused them of being involved in “multiple offences”.
The parents of these youth today protested at Police station in Pulwama town after rumours went afloat that the youth in police custody have been slapped with PSA and are being shifted to Central Jail Srinagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The family members said that their sons are “innocent” and have been demanding their immediate release. “Four of them are minors,” the family members claimed.
Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Rayees Muhammad Bhat, said that the youth under custody are involved in “multiple offences”.
“The youth are under police custody from the last few days as they are involved in multiple offences in the area,” SP Bhat said. However, he said that “nobody has been slapped with PSA”. (KNS)
