Kupwara May, 12 (KNS): With no proper dumping site available in Kupwara town, the garbage in the district is being dumped in the main town along the Srinagar-kupwara highway.
The locals accused municipal committee Kupwara(MCK), of failing to identify any suitable land for the proper dumping of the garbage in the district.
Locals alleged that waste collected by the MCK is dumped in the open space along the highway, which has become a nuisance.
"The dogs prowl around the area in search of food, which poses a threat to the locals particularly the students, local said.
"The authorities have turned a blind eye toward this issue," he said, adding that the piled up garbage emanates foul smell and has become a health hazard for the people. "It also attracts dogs, cattle, and insects," a commuter said. (KNS)
