The Prime Minister Nerendra Modi who visited Jammu on a day long visit Friday did not announce any developmental package for Jammu and Kashmir. However, the state government here maintained that the announcement will be made in the last week of July.
According to KNS correspondent Modi who arrived Jammu around 11 am on Friday to commemorate the birth centenary of late leader Girdhari Lal Dogra,. The function was held at Zorawar Singh Auditorium in Jammu University.
The PM was accompanied by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely and MoS in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh.
The function was attended by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed, Leader of Opposition in rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Governor N.N Vohra, Dr Karn Sing, NCs senior leader Devendra Singh Rana, Director General of Police K Rajindra and other civil and police top officials.
Meanwhile the Prime Minister did not announce any developmental package for Jammu and Kashmir.
It was much talked that Modi will announce the mega developmental package of 70,000 during his Jammu visit.
However, one of the cabinet minister in PDP-BJP government told KNS over phone that the announcement will be made in the last week of July.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syeed wants that the package should be announced by PM in Srinagar. The Prime Minister has agreed the same and it is expected that the PM will announce the package in Srinagar in the last week of July,” the minister said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Finance minister Dr Haseeb Drabu had told KNS that government of India is announcing mega developmental package around Rs 70,000 crore to the Jammu and Kashmir. “I cannot tell you the exact amount of package but I can say with the responsibility that it will be around the 70,000 crore which will be announced within the month of July,” he had said.
Earlier Modi arrived Jammu amid tight security arrangements. Tight security arrangements were made during Prime Minister’s Jammu visit. The venue was put under siege while troops including state police and para-military forces were deployed around the venue. (KNS)
