NLCO thanks Chief Secretary Dr. A.K. Mehta for setting Exciting Conservation Plans in Motion

Srinagar, 20 Sept(KNS): Nageen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) is excited to announce a pivotal development in its mission to restore and rejuvenate the iconic Gilsar-Khushal Sar urban lakes.

In a momentous meeting at the Civil Secretariat, NLCO President Manzoor Wangnoo had the privilege of engaging in a one-on-one discussion with the Chief Secretary, Dr. A.K. Mehta, IAS. During this meeting, Mr. Wangnoo provided a succinct overview of NLCO's ongoing conservation efforts.

 

The highlight of this encounter was the presentation of a comprehensive conceptual note on the eco-conservation of Gilsar-Khushal Sar. 

 

This note, a testament to NLCO's commitment to environmentally responsible initiatives, was prepared by NLCO Advisor Er. Ajaz Rasool.

The exciting news of the Government's plan to initiate conservation work on Gilsar-Khushal Sar, scheduled to commence by the end of this month promises to bring a new dimension to the conservation efforts, offering numerous benefits.

 

The planned conservation work is expected to:

Revive Tourism: The restoration of these interconnected urban lakes will undoubtedly reignite interest among tourists, enhancing the local economy. Open Traditional Navigation Routes: The conservation project will also facilitate the revival of traditional navigation routes, contributing to the area's historical and cultural significance

 

Boost Local Economies: The positive ripple effects of this endeavour will empower local communities economically, fostering sustainable growth. NLCO extends heartfelt gratitude to the administration, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA), and all stakeholders for their unwavering support in its mission "Ehsaas." Together, we are working tirelessly to retrieve and rejuvenate the vital water bodies of Gilsar-Khushal Sar.
