Srinagar, Aug 20:(KNS)  The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mumbai-based Jani-IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation on collaborating for entrepreneurship education and conduct of IEF MasterClass module for entrepreneurs at the Institute.

The MoU was signed by Director, NIT Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal and Jani-IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation (JIEF) represented by its Chairperson and Founder Bhairavi Jani.

It was signed in presence of Prof. G.A Harmain HAG, Dean, Research & Consultancy, Prof. Abdul Liman, Head, Department of HSS&M, Dr. Tahir Ahmad Wani, Assistant Professor, Department of HSS&M, NIT Srinagar, and other dignitaries.

The JIEF shall aim to expand to develop an overall entrepreneurial culture among the youth of J&K. The Foundation is acting as a helping hand to create a collaborative ecosystem for small-scale entrepreneurs, in small towns and rural areas of the country.

The foundation mostly runs specifically designed Master Classes for small-scale entrepreneurs that help reduces their learning curve, to increase their potential for success. In the past, Iit has conducted many Master Classes in various places including in Srinagar.

On the occasion, Prof. Sehgal expressed gratitude to Chairperson Jani-IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation, Bhairavi Jani, for initiating the collaboration with NIT Srinagar.

He said it is indeed of matter of great pleasure as two intuitions have come together to sign a historic MoU. We should always believe in workable MoU's rather than be restricted to piece of paper only.

Prof. Sehgal said the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management (HSS&M) is always active mode to implement these MOUs on the ground.

 "There is a need to focus on work culture of the industries. Reading and studying textbooks will not help, although they can provide you ideas but not practical knowledge," he said.

The Director NIT Srinagar said MoU will also help the students to connect to the various electronic industries in the nation and the students would get benefitted from these programs.

"Ultimately it is the industry environment, which needs to be explored. It can be done by mutual understanding, paying visits to each other's place, and listening to experienced people," he said.

Prof. Sehgal urged the Bhairavi Jani to start the program in the NIT Srinagar so that the signing of MOU can prove beneficial for entire NIT Srinagar and students of higher institutions of the Valley.

In his message, Registrar NIT Srinagar, Prof. Kaiser Bukhari said the signing of MoU with IEF is a good beginning between the two intuitions and in the future also, NIT Srinagar will also explore more possibilities and options.

Chairperson and Founder, Jani-IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation, Bhairavi Jani who is a fourth-generation entrepreneur, developmental enthusiast, and an avid philanthropist. 

She is the Chairperson and Founder of IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation and Executive Director of SCA Group of Companies founded in 1896. SCA Group undertakes activities in supply chain and logistics sector.

Jani said has been working with the youth of Kashmir for the past two decades and will continue to do in future."I am grateful to NIT Srinagar that they have given us the opportunity to work more in Valley in the sphere of entrepreneurship, she said.

"We are looking forward to working with faculty, management, and students of the Institute to create and grow the entrepreneur ecosystem among the youth of J&K," Jani said. 

Prof. G.A Harmain HAG, Dean, Research & Consultancy said NIT Srinagar shall provide the required infrastructure and other necessities for holding the MasterClasses online or offline based on the faculty convenience and on-ground situation.

"MoU will be aiming to meet the societal requirements for entrepreneurship education and conduct the already successful IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation-Master Class module for entrepreneurs in all faculties at the Institute," he said.

Prof. Abdul Liman, Head, Department of HSS&M hoped that collaboration between two institutions will prove beneficial for the students.

"Both intuitions are desirous of entering into a mutually beneficial MoU in order to meet the societal requirements for entrepreneurship education and conduct the already-successful IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation-MasterClass module for entrepreneurs in all faculties of NIT Srinagar," he said.

Chairperson, IEF Entrepreneurship Foundation shall act as the Advisory Member of Industry Interaction Interface of the department of HSS&M, NIT Srinagar.

Dr. Sumaira Jan, Assistant Professor HSS&M hosted the MoU session while Dr. Mohd Rafiq Teli and Dr. Jaya Shrivastava attended the event online.(KNS)
