Director terms achievement a proud moment for Kashmir

Srinagar, April 6 (KNS): In a significant achievement for the academic and research community, Dr. Zarak Bhat, a PhD graduate from National Institute of Technology Srinagar, has joined the University of Edinburgh as a Postdoctoral Researcher.

Dr. Zarak is the first PhD scholar from the Nanoelectronics Research and Development Group at NIT Srinagar. She completed her doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Sheikh Aamir Ahsan in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

She has been selected for the APRIL AI Hub at the University of Edinburgh, where her research focuses on applying artificial intelligence to the design of electronic devices. Her work aims to improve performance prediction, speed up optimisation processes, and enhance productivity in semiconductor research.

During her PhD, Dr. Zarak worked on power Gallium Nitride (GaN) models. Her research, published in leading journals including IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, contributed to the development of the NITSRI-GaN modelling framework.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe work is considered important for linking device-level physics with circuit-level simulations, especially for next-generation power electronic systems.

Her appointment is seen as a major milestone for both the researcher and the institute, highlighting the growing global recognition of advanced semiconductor research at NIT Srinagar.

Dr. Ahsan expressed pride over the achievement, saying such milestones reflect the group’s commitment to high-quality and industry-relevant research. “It is always rewarding to see students succeed at leading global institutions,” he said.

Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, congratulated Dr. Zarak and her mentor, calling it a proud moment for the institute and the Kashmir valley.

“This achievement reflects the high academic standards and research excellence at NIT Srinagar. We remain committed to promoting innovation and preparing researchers for global challenges,” he said.(KNS)
