Srinagar, Nov 6 (KNS): Two faculty members from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar presented their research on advanced semiconductor technologies and energy-efficient computing systems at the EU-India Digital Cooperation Conference 2026, held at South Asian University, New Delhi, on November 2 and 3.
Dr Sheikh Aamir Ahsan and Dr Arshid Nisar from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering delivered invited talks highlighting ongoing research in Power Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology and neuromorphic computing using spintronic devices.
The presentations were made under INPACE, a Horizon Europe-funded project aimed at strengthening cooperation between the European Union and Indo-Pacific countries in semiconductor research and emerging digital technologies.
Dr Sheikh Aamir Ahsan presented his work on Power GaN technology and compact modelling, focusing on potential applications in electric vehicles and artificial intelligence data centres.
His presentation highlighted research being undertaken at NIT Srinagar to advance next-generation power electronics, particularly technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency and performance in high-power applications.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Dr Arshid Nisar delivered a talk on neuromorphic computing using spintronic devices, an emerging technology that seeks to replicate certain functions of the human brain to develop more energy-efficient computing systems.
His research is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, under the DST INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship.
The conference brought together researchers, technology experts and policymakers from India and the European Union to discuss collaboration in semiconductor development, advanced computing and digital technologies.
Padma Shri Prof Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Institute Professor at IIT Madras, attended the conference as chief guest.
The two-day programme featured invited lectures, panel discussions and interactive working sessions aimed at strengthening international research partnerships and technological cooperation. (KNS)
