Srinagar, Sep 14: (KNS) The National Institution of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Tuesday celebrated Hindi Diwas and organized various literary events virtually  aiming to spread awareness regarding the Hindi language and its rich literature.

The program was organized by the Hindi Cell of Institution and a series of events were organized including essay writing, storytelling, poem recitation, and extempore speech competitions in which 37 participants participated from across the country.

In-charge Hindi Cell, Dr. Ravi Bhushan, and In-charge Counselling Cell  Dr. Neeraj Gupta were the coordinators of the Hindi Diwas event.

On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal appreciated the organizers for organizing the event and termed the event as a good beginning for the Hindi language on the campus.

Recalling about his schools days, Director NIT Srinagar said he was actively participating in school competitions in the Hindi language. Even sometimes used to recite the poems which were written by my mother, he said.

Prof. Sehgal said there is a need to promote Hindi and popularize the Hindi language among the people. The language has its own history and legacy, he said.

"In future, we will try to get a good collection of books on the Hindi language and literature for the central library of NIT Srinagar, which would be beneficial for students and research scholars," he said.

Prof. Sehgal said they will be organizing such events in future also and NIT Srinagar will leave no stone unturned in promoting the Hindi language on the campus.

In his message, Registrar NIT, Prof Kaiser Bukhari appreciated the organizers for organizing a series of events on Hindi Diwas. This is the right beginning and it will go a long way, he said.

Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Abdul Liman appreciated the Director NIT Srinagar Prof. Rakesh Sehgal for taking such initiatives for the promotion of official language in the Intuition.

In-charge Hindi Cell NIT Srinagar, Dr. Ravi Bhushan informed that the main aim of the organizing event was to raise awareness regarding the official language. He also appreciated the recent steps taken by the Director NIT Srinagar for the promotion of the Rajbhasha.

About the program, he said the Hindi Cell had received entries from the 60 candidates and Hindi lovers from different parts of the country.  Following which only 37 participants were allowed to participate in the event, he said.

 In essay completion, 11 participants took part; it was followed by recitation of poems by 11 participants, extempore speech by 10, and storytelling by 5 candidates respectively.

Dr. R P Shukla (Assistant Professor, Civil Engg), Dr. Brajindra Singh (Asst Prof, ECE), Dr. Jitendra Gurjar (Asst Prof, Civil engineering) and Dr. H. S. Pali (Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering) acts as judges for the different programs.

In an essay writing competition, Ravish Kumar Yadav from Civil Eng. bagged the first position followed by Rohit Gocher from Electrical Eng and 3rd position by Sunil Lega from Civil Engineering.

In the poem recitation, competition, Rishav Kumar from Mechanical Engineering from bagged first position followed by Raushan Kumar from Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and Ganesh Pathak from Mechanical Engineering and 3rd position by Adarsh Kumar from Chemical Engineering.

In Storytelling, Manisha Rani from Chemical Engineering bagged the first position followed by Raushan Kumar from Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and 3rd position by  ShaktiSingh from  Chemical Engineering.

Similarly in extempore speech, Ganesh Pathak from Mechanical Engineering bagged the first position followed by Raushan Kumar from   Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and 3rd position by Chandraprakah Jangid from the Civil Engineering department.

While a formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Neeraj Gupta, In-charge Counselling Cell NIT Srinagar. He congratulated the winners of the events and thanked all judges, participants for making the event a grand success.
