Nilnag to be developed as major tourist hub, assures J&K Assembly Speaker

Budgam, Aug 21 (KNS) : Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Friday visited Buzgoo Nilnag in the Char-i-Sharief assembly segment and assured the locals of a comprehensive master plan to transform the area into a major tourist destination in central Kashmir's Budgam district.

Emphasising the need for rapid infrastructure development, Rather said the Barinibal road will connect Yusmarg and Nilnag to facilitate seamless tourist movement between the two scenic destinations.

"Nilnag will be developed as a major asset for income generation. A master plan will be framed to ensure its sustainable development while preserving its ecology," the Speaker told the gathering during the on-site visit.

Rather, who is also the MLA from the constituency, was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of Yusmarg Development Authority Riyaz Ahmad Beigh, Superintending Engineer of Jal Shakti Department Shazia Majid, Executive Engineer PHE Chadoora Mohammad Younis and other officers of Chadoora and Char-i-Sharief subdivisions.

During the visit, the Speaker listened to the grievances of the local residents and assured them that every missing facility, particularly road connectivity and PHE infrastructure, would be taken up with the concerned departments on priority.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Locals presented a memorandum of demands highlighting the immediate need for roads and water supply schemes besides overall development of Nilnag.

Responding to the demands, Rather assured that a developmental boost is imminent not only for Nilnag but for all areas falling in this belt.

The Speaker also raised concern over intermittent closure of tourist destinations and stressed that such practices should not be followed, asserting that these spots should remain open throughout the year to ensure steady tourist inflow and economic stability for locals.

"The people of Buzgoo and Nilnag will be given every type of facility that they are lacking. All developmental issues will be taken up with the concerned departments," he added. (KNS)
