Srinagar, May 20 (KNS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday questioned the senior separatist leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan for his role in 2016 unrest and alleged funding from Pakistan for fomenting trouble in valley.
A four-member team of the NIA questioned Khan at his Jawahar Nagar office for more than two hours, sources told KNS.
Sources said the NIA team asked some tough questions to Khan, who was caught on camera in a sting operation acknowledging that Pakistan is funding the separatists for instigating stone pelting in Kashmir.
“He was grilled for more than two hours about what he said in the sting operation. The questioning is part of the inquiry initiated after NIA took cognizance of the news channel reports,” the sources said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Khan’s spokesperson confirmed that NIA team questioned him today evening, without divulging further information about the questioning of NIA.
However, Khan has denied the allegations of receiving funds for stone pelting and burning schools as shown in the sting operation of a New Delhi based news channel India Today. He said the videos of India Today as doctored and the audio was not in sync with his lip movement. “Some old videos have been edited to defame the sacred movement of Kashmir,” he told reporters here.
