Srinagar, Jul 30 (KNS): Today, in this press conference, addressed by DFP secretary general Moulana Abdullah Tari, Advt Fayaz Ahmad Sodagar and other party leaders.
Senior pro-freedom leader and chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah, who has been arrested by Enforcement Directorate and taken to Delhi, is being subjected to physical and mental torture.
The motive behind the arrest of pro-freedom leadership and implicating them in fabricated cases through biased and unethical Indian media is nothing but to discredit and malign their image and to sow seeds of distrust and discord behind people and the resistance leadership. Such acts are also aimed at keeping people away from the freedom movement.
Though India through its military might is already hell bent on suppressing our freedom movement, now it is harassing the resistance leadership by accusing it of receiving funds from foreign countries to "spread terror" in J&K thereby giving an impression that the freedom movement of Jammu Kashmir is not indigenous but one surviving on foreign funds.
We want to make it clear that India has failed to suppress our freedom movement and has now resorted to arrest of pro-freedom leadership who are kept under detention in Delhi.
We believe there was ample scope of probing the allegations against resistance leadership under the ambit of Constitution of Jammu Kashmir but it is extremely unfortunate that those beating the drums of 'battle of ideas' and so-called Self Rule surrendered completely before their masters in Delhi and handed over the resistance leadership to Indian agencies to do whatever they like.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe reality is that this all is the handiwork of these puppets of New Delhi.
Since Shabir Ahmad Shah was released from jail in 2011, he has remained mostly under house arrest or detained in jails. During this period he was not allowed to meet anyone or carry out his political activities. Now, he is detained at New Delhi where he is not even allowed to change clothes or wear slippers.
Shah has been kept in a room where there are not even basic facilities including a fan. It is now obvious that Indian authorities want to kill Shah under a conspiracy.
Shah's family approached Delhi court to get in contact with him but was declined meeting and told that Shah is currently under judicial remand. Later Shah's wife was allowed to meet him only for few minutes after a day's wait.
During meeting, Shabir Ahmad Shah's resolve was high and in his message to nation said, "While the children of my nation are being killed and jailed, I pledge that I won't surrender before India even if I'm sent to gallows."
In his struggle for freedom for Jammu Kashmir, Shabir Ahmad Shah has spend 30 years of his life in jails and has been given the title of "Prisoner of Conscience" by the Amnesty International. The world bodies should take note of Shah's detention and use their offices in securing his release. (KNS)
