Bandipora 21 April (KNS): Vice-President Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party and Former MLA Bandipora Usman Majid lashed out at Wular Conservation & Management Authority, saying that WUCMA had made the flood-like situation in the surrounding village S.K Payeen due to the dredging works going in the lake. 

As per the statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS), Usman said the dumping of dredged material along the embankments make lives miserable for people of village S.K Payeen in Bandipora.The pipes laid to take out muck from the lake have been laid around the village due to which all the debris gets accumulated there and have resulted in flooding the village.

Usman Majid also said, In what could turn out to be a biggest scam WUCMA here in the garb of dredging wular lake is not only incurring huge losses to the state exchequer but also disturbing the fragile ecosystem.The main reason behind the WUCMA doing such a shoddy job is a deep-rooted nexus between WUCMA & Contractors.

Usman Majid has urged the LG administration to take necessary measures to avoid a repeat of disasters and also investigate and monitor the Wular lake conservation works to curb such unlawful actions by Officials as well as contractors.(KNS)
