Bandipura, Dec 09 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Women's Wing on Thursday held a one day Convention in Malangam, Bandipora. The convention was presided by JKNC State Women’s wing President Shameema Firdous.

Among others District President Bandipore Mir Gh Rasool Naaz, Zonal Secretary Nazir Malik, Distt VP Dr Abdul Hameed, Provincial President Women's Wing Sabiya Qadri, VP district Women's wing, DDC Aloosa Mewa Jaan, Zonal President YNC North Kashmir Sameer Bhat, Joint sec YNC North Lateef Bhat, DDC Gurez Tasleema ji, Block President Aloosa Sideeq Chaudhary & Block President Bandipora Gh Ahmad Malik were also present.

The restoration of Article 370/35A Statehood, Development, Dignity and Peace in J&K, the women's wing functionaries said, is the main agenda of NC and the party will continue with its peaceful constitutional and democratic struggle towards that end.

Shameema Firdous while addressing the meeting said, "The political participation of Women besides being a human right, is also key to thriving democracy. The party has traditionally and frontally worked to end gender bias and will continue to do so in the future as well.”

Asking the party cadre to extend its reach to the general masses, she said, "Discrimination and depravity at the societal and domestic level with our mothers and sisters is rife .Our sisters and mothers are bearing an additional burden of the political instability and conflict as well. The young population of Kashmir, especially the girls are extremely vulnerable to the repercussions of ongoing political instability and soaring unemployment. Beyond these torments, people across Kashmir suffer from the loss of agency in negotiating their everyday lives due to price rise, administrative apathy, and widespread fear. Our mothers and sisters are particularly at the receiving end. These complex web of issues are compounding with each passing day ensnaring the lives of our women populace."

"Rising unemployment in J&K is also having a cascading effect on our promising young women. However, it's exciting to see aspiring girls well educated and well equipped with strong leadership skills join our fold wave after wave," she said, hoping that the women's wing functionaries will help in strengthening the party at grass root level.

Among others, Sabiya Qadri also spoke on the occasion. (KNS)
