NC's ideology not up for bargain, says Omar Abdullah

Bandipora, June 17 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the National Conference (NC) would remain committed to its political ideology and would not alter its stand for the sake of power.

Asked about reports of some opposition MPs supporting the NDA on select issues, Abdullah said every party was free to take its own decisions, but the NC's position was clear.

"The National Conference has a long political legacy and a set of values that guide its decisions. Those principles are not for sale," he told reporters during a visit to Bandipora district.

Speaking to reporters as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), CM omar said the party's commitment was towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir and not towards securing political advantage through shifting alliances.

His remarks came during a tour of various development sites where he reviewed projects and assessed the progress of ongoing works.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelOfficials briefed him on infrastructure initiatives being implemented in the district.

Abdullah said the government's priority was to improve public services and ensure timely completion of development projects. He added that investments in infrastructure would help address long-pending requirements in several sectors.

During the visit, the chief minister also interacted with local residents and delegations, who brought to his notice issues concerning basic amenities, including roads, power supply, drinking water, healthcare and employment opportunities.

He assured the delegations that the administration would examine the concerns and take necessary measures wherever required.

Reiterating the NC's political position, Abdullah said the party would continue to follow its established principles regardless of developments in national politics.(KNS)
