On the instructions of Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah today nominated Senior NC Leader, former Cabinet Minister and MLA Budgam Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi as the Chief Spokesperson of the party.
National Conference Youth Leader and Constituency In-charge Kulgam, Imran Nabi Dar has been nominated as the new Provincial Spokesperson for Kashmir Province while as former KAS Officer and senior journalist, Madan Mantoo has been nominated as the Provincial Spokesperson for Jammu Province.
National Conference Youth Leader Sarah Hayat Shah has been nominated as the Additional Spokesperson for Kashmir Province while as former Youth National Conference Provincial President and Youth Leader Surinder Singh Bunty has been nominated as the Additional Spokesperson for Jammu Province.
AGA SYED RUHULLAH (Chief Spokesperson):
Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi is a Senior Leader of the National Conference and a three time legislator from Budgam. He has been a Cabinet Minister in the Omar Abdullah government.
Aga Ruhullah completed schooling from Tyndale Biscoe in the year 1999. He then went to Aligarh for further studies but had to leave Aligarh only after 4 months due to his Father's assassination, he pursued his studies and did B.A. in Political Science from Kashmir University.
Aga's political career started in the year 2002, when he contested his first assembly election and won. He continued his winning streak in 2008 & 2014. In 2009, he was inducted in the State Cabinet and became the youngest ever cabinet Minister in the entire country. Aga Ruhallah has visited many foreign countries including the USA. In the Year 2006, he was Chosen by US embassy for International Visitors Leadership Program in USA as youngest Indian Legislator. In 2010, he was Awarded by Network 18, CNN-IBN as the Youngest Indian Leader.
IMRAN NABI DAR (Provincial Spokesperson - Kashmir):
Imran Nabi Dar is a young face of the party. He has been working in the field of communication and media for the last one decade, and has a special inclination towards world conflicts and their reportage.
Imran has studied Mass Communication and Journalism at Masters Level and specialized in Peace and Conflict Analysis from Nelson Mandela Center for Peace and Conflict Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. Imran started his career as a reporter for Greater Kashmir, leading English daily of J&K. Imran moved back to Kashmir to teach conflict reporting and analysis to students of journalism and conflict studies at Islamic University of Science and Technology. He later on worked as Feature Editor for Rising Kashmir, English daily based in Srinagar.
Pertinently, Imran is the son of a Senior NC Leader and two time legislator from Kulgam, Late Ghulam Nabi Dar. He is now actively involved in National Conference and also contested the 2014 Assembly Elections from Kulgam Constituency and is presently the Constituency In-charge for Kulgam besides being the Senior Vice President – In-charge South Kashmir of Youth National Conference.
MADAN MANTOO (Provincial Spokesperson - Jammu):
Madan Mantoo is a senior working journalist and a retired KAS officer and has been heading Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Media Cell, Jammu for the past nearly three years. He is currently Executive Editor of a daily newspaper, published from Jammu and New Delhi, and has remained Director Public Relations in Raj Bhavan and Press Officer to Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah for six years each. He is a law graduate with PGD in Journalism and Mass Communication.
SARAH HAYAT SHAH (Additional Spokesperson - Kashmir):
Sarah Hayat Shah holds a post graduate degree in Human Geography from the University of New Castle, United Kingdom and has worked with National Geographic previously.
Sarah is the daughter of Senior NC Leader, former Provincial President and Legislator Ghulam Nabi Shaheen. She joined active politics in 2014 and was inducted into the party by Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
SURINDER SINGH BUNTY (Additional Spokesperson - Jammu):
Surinder Singh Bunty is an advocate and active sports organizer and has remained Provincial President, Youth National Conference Jammu since 1997. He has been an avid sportsman, a frequent traveler to various countries under youth exchange program and a recipient of the Prime Minister’s award for distinguished voluntary and social service. He is currently heading ‘VOICE’ - a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and is the Coordinator of the Jammu and Kashmir Chapter of Indian Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries.
Meanwhile all the nominated Spokespersons have thanked the Party President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, the Party’s Working President Omar Abdullah and National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, for reposing faith in them.
