Srinagar, 01 September (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Wednesday finalized the arrangements for the party’s organizational elections, which will commence from Sep 02.

As per the statement issued to Kashmir News Service, Party General Secretary, who is also the election convener, finalized the arrangement for the entire exercise. While interacting with the party functionaries here at party headquarters Nawa e Subha, he called for electing such workers and delegates for organizational posts as are deeply connected with the grassroots.

 He impressed upon the functionaries to ensure utmost transparency in the election exercise to the satisfaction of all the contesting party members, upholding the best traditions of the party. Sagar also maintained that the idea behind conducting organizational elections is to ensure political inclusion at all levels of organization.

 He further added that NC is the formidable political force in J&K with a deeply connected leadership, unambiguous policy framework, committed cadre and a well-defined economic and political programme. The party, he said, has sustained hostile waves decade after decade since its inception on account of its emotional connection with the people and sheer amount of good work it has rendered for the people. He held that the party has a bigger role to play in securing the interests of our people, therefore making it imperative for the party to have such office bearers at steering positions at block and district units as to have best of organizational capabilities, commitment towards party ideals and zest for social service.

It is germane to mention that the process of elections that has commenced from today will mark election of block presidents from 2nd September to 6th September and then election of district presidents from 7th September to 11th September. It is also relevant to mention here that the party’s provincial President, Kashmir Nasir Aslam Wani has already approved formation of election committees for conducting the elections. The election committees will be headed by an In-charge election and nine other observers. Total three such committees have been formed. The north zone election committee will be headed by party senior leader and state secretary Sakina Itoo, South Zone by Ali Muhammad Dar, and Central Zone by Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri. The In Charge Zone, which was also notified previously, will keep a liaison officer with the respective members and constitute teams for holding elections in block/districts as per the already issued notifications.

Among others party Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani; Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir and Joint secretary GN Bhat were also present in the meeting.(KNS)
