Asks Admin to reach out to Kani Mazar fire victims with relief, compensation

Srinagar April 27 (KNS) : The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday expressed profound anguish over the gutting of a number of residential houses in a massive fire that broke out at Kani Mazar area of Nawa Kadal on Tuesday evening.

 
Sharing in the grief of affected families, Former Speaker Mubarak Gul said that he received the unfortunate news with utmost grief. He prayed for their speedy revival and impressed upon the administration to reach out to the affected families with adequate relief and compensation. He also contacted district administration and impressed upon them to reach out to those affected with immediate help.
 
Expressing concern over the recurring incidents of fire in Kashmir, particularly Srinagar, Gul said that the recurrence of such devastating fires have had the people on tenterhooks. "Different government agencies should take an assortment of initiatives to prevent the recurrence of fires, there is a serious lack of clear and comprehensive policy about how to assess the hazards and how to manage them. We have been hearing about safety audits of all shrines in Kashmir. Years have passed since, nothing has been done to enhance the safety of our revered shrines, government hospitals, schools, colleges and densely populated areas. What are the concerned agencies doing?, "he asked.(KNS)
