Srinagar, June 14 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) on Saturday said the job appointment letter handed over by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to the widow of Adil Shah— a pony handler killed in the recent Pahalgam attack — had already been approved by the elected government’s Fisheries Department.
Reacting to the development, NC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq said compassion should rise above politics in times of grief.
“In moments of pain, politics must make way for compassion, and governance must honour its word,” Sadiq posted on X.
“We thank LG Sahab for handing over the job order that was already prepared by the Fisheries Department, which is under the elected government led by Minister Javed Dar,” he said.
Sadiq added that the NC-led government had acted with responsibility and maturity by standing by its commitment to Adil Shah’s family without allowing "ego" to interfere.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“This reflects the maturity and responsibility shown by the elected government. We did not allow egos to come in the way but stood by our commitment to Adil’s family in their moment of grief,” he said.
He also pointed out that similar appointment letters were issued earlier to families affected by cross-border shelling in Poonch, following a personal visit and assurance by the Chief Minister.
“The job orders were later distributed by the Home Minister, after the CM had personally committed to those families,” Sadiq, also an MLA from Zadibal, said.
Earlier in the day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Shah’s home in the Hapatnar area of Pahalgam and handed over the government job appointment letter to his widow, Gulnaz Akhter. Speaking to reporters, Sinha described the gesture as a symbol of the administration’s gratitude for Shah’s courage and sacrifice.(KNS)
