Srinagar. April 21 (KNS): Expressing doubt over the intentions of the government in probing the recent Handwara killings, Opposition National Conference Thursday said that the Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti’s credibility was at stake as the government was itself in a contradictory mode viz a viz the incident . Party’s general secretary and former minister Ali Mohammad Sagar accused government of ‘scuttling’ the probe process even before it could be taken off. He told KNS that it was shocking to see various government agencies contradicting with each other on the incident which has put a question mark on the fairness of the probe.
“They are scuttling the probe. Many versions are coming out from different corners. Deputy Commissioner has said that first bullet might have come from crowd. Even the girl and her mother have made many statements which has put the whole process ambiguous.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel” Sagar told KNS. He added that NC would wait for the 15 day time period Chief Minster has set herself for bringing the culprits to book. He said that the Chief Minster’s commitment would be tested.
“We will see if Chief Minster can fulfill her commitment.” NC General Secretary told KNS. He however, was quick to add that his party was not in favour of adding to the worries of people and said that nobody should be allowed to disturb the peace.
“Tourist season has began. People are already undress stress for many reasons. We don’t want anyone to create an atmosphere where our economy and tourism sector is hit.” said Sagar. He further added that National Conference was holding an important meeting on 23rd of this month to formulate a strategy on future course of action on many issues. (KNS)
