Srinagar, May 7 (KNS): Opposition parties said that they will oppose setting up of Sainik colony in the state for retired army officials who are non-state subjects but are at peace with such a colony for state subjects.
National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani told KNS that if the proposed Sainik colony is for non-state subjects then the party will oppose it.
“If the proposed Sainik colony is meant for retired army soldiers who are non-state subjects, then National Conference will oppose it tooth and nail,” Wani told KNS.
“We will raise the issue in upcoming Budget session of the Assembly. And incase the government goes ahead with its plans, then we will oppose it at all fronts.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
The NC leader said for retired army official of the state having a separate colony for them is ok.
“We have no problem with a Sainik colony for retired army soldiers of the state. There are separate colonies for legislators and police officials, so ex-servicemen too can have a colony,” he said.
JK Congress has said setting up separate Sainik colony for n0n-state subjects is direct encroachment on Article 370.
“We already have large number of security forces camps in Kashmir. Having permanent colonies for retired army soldiers who are non-state subjects is not acceptable, but for state subjects we don’t have any hesitation,” Mir told KNS.
