Police have to make use of aerial firing, fire teargas shells and rubber bullets to disburse a protesting mob gathered outside Government higher secondary school Bugam on Saturday to prevent entry of PDP leader and Member Rajia sabha Nazir Ahmad Laway in to the school where he was going to attend a function. In the melee, a youth was injured and two vehicles of PDP leader’s cavalcades where torched by the protesters.
KNS from from Kulgam said that local youth of Bugam village of Kulgam District had gathered outside the school gate protesting the proposed visit of Laway to school. He said as the PDP leader reached the protesting youth stopped him and try to manhandle him. Eyewitnesses said that the personal security guards of the PDP leader seeing this situation going out of control fired in air, which disbursed the mob only to regroup again and hurdle stones on the police.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIn the meantime, Laway has safely taken refuge in the school premises.
Reports added that as the situation was going out of control with local youth pelting stones indiscriminately police have to fire tear gas shells and rubber bullets in which 11 year old Majid Ahmad Dar was injured.
Protesters, who continued stone pelting throughout the day, also torched two vehicles of PDP leader’s cavalcade.
Meanwhile Police said the situation was brought under control and Laway was safely restored from school premises. Talking to KNS SP Kulgam Mumtaz Ahmad said that four youth who were the actual trouble makers were arrested and case registered against them. Unconfirmed reports said that protesters have kept CEO Kulgam and were demanding release of arrested youth in exchange of his release. (KNS)
