‘Putting resistance leaders behind bars will never stop Kashmiris to fight oppression’

Srinagar, Jan 06 (KNS): Senior Hurriyat leader and National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan was put under house arrest on Friday to prevent him from meeting people at congregational prayers. A large contingent of police was deployed outside his house early in the morning and he was informed that he will not be allowed to move out of his house. National Front spokesperson has strongly condemned Nayeem Khan’s illegal detention saying that Kashmir is a police state where no rule of law does exist. State Police is always chocking the political space of Hurriyat leadership and National Front chairman is time and again being kept under detention.
In a statement issued to KNS, Nayeem Khan on his illegal detention has said that putting resistance leaders behind the bars or restricting their activities will never stop Kashmiris to fight the oppression. This movement is not as small that such tactics can harm it.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThis is people’s movement with a huge history of sacrifices. This movement has now become unstoppable for India. No power on earth can snatch the goal of Azadi away from the people of Kashmir because this freedom movement is nourished by the blood of lakhs of common people. Nayeem Khan paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Sopore massacre on its 24th anniversary. He recalled that 57 innocent people were ruthlessly massacred, hundreds injured and hundreds of houses and shops were burnt to ashes by Indian troops on January 6, in 1993. This day will always be remembered as a hallmark of state terrorism and a sign of India’s armed brutality against Kashmiris. Perhaps wounds heal as time passes but history always reminds us such brutal incidents of colonialism and occupation of oppressors. Sopore massacre of 1993 will forever be a slur on face of Indian democracy. (KNS)
