Pulwama Aug 29 (KNS) : Director Youth Services and Sports J&K (YSS) while extending the greetings of National Sports Day to the Youth of J&K in general and sports persons in particular has said that this day reminds us of the tremendous contributions by legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand in the field of sports. To commemorate the day he was speaking at the inaugural function of the Inter District
Provincial Level Volleyball tournament at Women Degree College here.
While speaking about the importance of the day and the arrangements made for its celebrations across J&K he said that the Department of YSS had already geared up its preparations for the mega event across the UT. "The format given in advance by SAl was followed in letter and spirit and we are targeted to
involve lakhs of students of more than 23 thousand J&K schools." has further stated.
Director YSS while appreciating the young girls for taking part in the mega sports event said that the Department of Youth Services and Sports is working tirelessly for the promotion and development of sports
in the UT of J&K and it's really heartwarming to see daughters of the soil taking sports as a career and bringing laurels to the UT.
Joint Director YSS, Kashmir also spoke on the occasion and said that the
day promotes the significance of sports in our daily life and how it helps us grow better both physically and mentally.
In the first phase of the schedule activity at the District, Director YSS and
other dignitaries inaugurated an exhibition Hockey match between YSS
and Hockey Team Pulwama at the newly constructed Hockey turf. The officers spent some blithesome and joyful moments with the players.
Director sports advised the players to opt sports as a career and use
leisure time in games to avoid drug abuse and anti-social activities.
ADDC Pulwama, Principal GDC women Pulwama, DYSSO Pulwama and other senior officials of the Department also accompanied Director YSS at both the venues.(KNS)
