National seminar, exhibition mark Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 350th martyrdom anniversary in Anantnag

 Srinagar, Jun 24 (KNS): A national-level seminar and exhibition commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was organised here today at the ground adjoining Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Mattan, Anantnag.

 
The event was jointly organised by the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
 
An exhibition of paintings depicting the life, teachings, philosophy and supreme sacrifice of the ninth Sikh Guru was inaugurated by the chief guest, Mr Brij Mohan Sharma, IBM, Principal Secretary, Department of Culture, J&K Government.
 
During the seminar, five scholarly papers on Guru Sahib’s bani, teachings and martyrdom were presented by eminent academics and writers including Ajit Singh Mastana, Satish Vimal, Navtej Singh, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn and Dr Harsimran Singh. Earlier, Mr Jarnail Singh, Assistant Director, NZCC, delivered the welcome address on behalf of the organisers.
 
The event saw participation from literary figures, intellectuals, devotees and students from various institutions. Among those present were Mr Ashok Kumar Sidha, President, Martand Tirath Trust, Mattan, representatives of DGPC Anantnag, and a large number of local community members.
 
Mr Popinder Singh Paras, Chief Editor, Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL, proposed the vote of thanks, while Mr Rattan Singh Kanwal conducted the proceedings. Officers from the district and tehsil administration, as well as Mr Adeel Saleem, JKAS, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, were also in attendance.
 
The exhibition will remain open for public viewing daily from 11 am to 5 pm until June 30, 2026. (KNS)
