Asks functionaries to fortify party's base in district by working with synergy

Srinagar Nov (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani on Saturday presided over the Block Committee meeting of Awoora in Kupwara.

Senior leader Mir Saifullah, District President Kupwara Qaisar Jamsheed Lone, Youth leader Zahid Mughal, DDC members were also present on the occasion.

Exhorting the workers, Nasir said, “We see a groundswell of support in favour of NC across the six constituencies of the district. There is a great need to keep up the momentum. Local people, whose developmental needs have been neglected by previous governments and representatives have set their eyes on NC for bringing a positive change into their lives.”

“The thumping support for the party during DDC elections is a clear indication as to which way the wind is blowing. BJP and its allies would suffer big setbacks over the issue of horticulture distress, declining profitability in trade, tourism, unemployment  and rising costs. We have earned the goodwill of people on account of our good work,” he said, adding that the party has a vision that puts the interests of the people above anything else.

Several rural habitations in Kupwara are facing severe water, electricity and infrastructural problems for years. “However the crisis has become worse in the last few years thus depriving people of basic drinking water facilities. This has to end, and only NC can deliver on this.”

He said the successive regimes post 2015 have turned blind eye to the frontier district of Kupwara. “The district not only lacks adequate staff but also basic diagnostic facilities and pregnancy care. At the times of medical emergencies during winters we are forced to shift patients on makeshift stretchers by walking several kilometres to reach a place where we board a vehicle,” he said.

Nasir said that the party was fighting battles on multiple fronts. “There is no trade-off between people's developmental needs and pride. Both have to go hand in hand. It's only NC that can deliver on both fronts.”(KNS)
