‘Lingering Kashmir issue resulted in killing of over one lac people’

Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders including Muhammad Yousuf Naqash Chairman Islamic Political Party JK, Bilal Sidiqe Chairman Tehreeq Mazahamat and Hakeem Abdul Rashid President Muslim Democratic Party in a joint statement to Press asked for the whereabouts of Siraj ud Din Farooqi brother in law of Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar who was disappeared in custody on 22 January 1994.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the leaders said the lingering Kashmir issue has resulted in the killing of more than one lac people, countless cases of torture and rape, 10000+ enforced disappearances. Besides this, illegal detentions, property damage, and other forms of human rights violations remain a common practice in Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The leaders further stated that the family and kiths and kins are wandering from pillar to post for seeking the whereabouts of their loves ones, adding Indian occupational forces have adopted criminal silence over the disappearances.
The leaders appeal International Human Rights Organizations to take strong notice of the forced disappearances in Kashmir and urged to use good offices to help families in tracing their nears and dears.
“We have thousands of half widows and orphans waiting for the day when their pain and agony will end. It is a great human tragedy that they are not in position to declare them dead or alive,” the statement reads. (KNS)
