Naib Sarpanch among two arrested for mischief, attack on Police party in Reasi: Police

Reasi, Sept 13 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Monday said that it arrested two notorious criminals involved in mischief and attack on a Police party and creating law and order problem in Chassana area of Reasi district.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that a case FIR no 35/2021 U/S 341, 353, 382, 147, 149, 336, 504, 506, 225, 224, 120-B IPC and section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public property Act was registered in police station Chassana on August 31 after some notorious criminals of the area attacked a police party when notorious criminals wanted Prem Singh and his accomplices of Thalkote-Chassana involved in a rape case were arrested.

“Prem Singh is a notorious history sheeter involved in seven cases including rape and attempt to murder,” reads the statement.

It reads that teams of Reasi Police arrested a wanted accused person namely Maqsood Hussain Shah—Naib Sarpanch of Shergarhi Chassana wanted in case FIR no 35/2021 U/S 341, 353, 382, 147, 149, 336, 504, 506, 224, 225, 120B IPC & 3 of Prevention of damage to Public Property Act-1984 Police Station Chasana. 

“In another case 15/2021, allegations under sections 452, 382, 427, 504, 506 IPC have also been proved & the accused was continuously evading his presence to presentation of the charge sheet before Hon’ble Court of law. Maqsood Hussain Shah is also accused in the rape case FIR Number 47/2020 U/S 376 D, 452, 109, 147 IPC. Victim had lodged FIR with signed application and the investigation is in progress. He has also been reported involved in religious sacrilege,” it reads.

It also reads that a history sheet has been opened in Police Station Chasana to keep him under constant surveillance and contain his unlawful activities.

“Bharat Singh so of Janak Singh of Thalkot an accused in FIR no 35/2021 U/S 341, 353, 382, 147, 149, 336, 504, 506, 224, 225, 120B IPC & 3 of Prevention of damage to Public Property Act-1984 Police Station Chasana was also arrested from Chassana area. He has a criminal past conduct with case FIR No 87/2005 U/S 352, 341, 506, 147, 149 IPC Police Station East Shimla, Himachal Pradesh,” it reads.

The statement reads that Maqsood was threatening SDPO Mahore through WhatsApp messages and voice calls for registration of false counter FIR against complainant of case FIR 15/2021 Police station Chassana and case FIR 93/2020 of Police Station Mahore.

Quoting senior superintendent of Police Reasi, Shailender Singh, the statement reads that no one is above the law of the land, and one who tries to disturb peace in the area shall be dealt with law and will have to account for unlawful deeds. 

He, as per the statement, further appealed that innocent people of Mahore-Chassana area should not fall prey into hands of such notorious criminals and should maintain peace, tranquility, brotherhood and keep social fabric of society intact. (KNS)
