Muzaffar Baig’s remarks ridiculous, frivolous: NC

‘He changes three statements a day on average’

Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNS): National Conference on Thursday said PDP Leader and Member of Parliament Muzaffar Hussain Baig’s remarks about Burhan Wani’s encounter were ridiculous and frivolous and reflected a complete bankruptcy of thought and logic. National Conference North Zone President and Former Cabinet Minister, Mohammad Akbar Lone said Muzaffar Hussain Baig was often unaware about the basis of his own remarks and has a habit of changing three statements on an average day.
“Baig Sahab has a tendency of ridiculing and embarrassing himself by making such frivolous and immature statements. Sadly all his years in politics haven’t helped him evolve a nuanced and thorough sense of how the system works. Sometimes Baig Sahab says PDP’s alliance with the BJP was a cardinal sin and had destroyed PDP’s credibility in Kashmir and then – once he sees green pastures – he starts praising the PDP-BJP alliance. As was hinted by MLA Baramulla and his newphew yesterday, Baig Sahab is trying to make a comeback to the State Cabinet – from where he was unceremoniously removed to make way for other party leaders. To serve this self-seeking purpose, he doesn’t mind changing a hundred stands on Burhan Wani and the nature of the PDP-BJP opportunistic alliance”, Mohammad Akbar Lone said in a statement issued to KNS.
Mohammad Akbar Lone asked Muzaffar Baig to clarify why a senior police officer – in a press conference in Srinagar – clearly admitted that the Chief Minister was briefed about the operation that was launched to kill Burhan Wani. “Their guilt is making them defy logic and contradict facts. One understands Baig Sahab’s desperation to be more loyal than the King to somehow make a comeback to the State Cabinet or find some accommodation in the Central Cabinet.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelOne however fails to understand how the ruling party can aspire to play both roles at the same time – that of the Government and that of the opposition. If Burhan Wani’s encounter was indeed unauthorized then why did the Chief Minister release an amount of ten lakh rupees as a reward for his killing from the secret fund? If – as alleged by Baig – the encounter was conceived by Police Officers who are disloyal to the Government – why hasn’t the State Government named those officers and taken disciplinary action against them? Baig Sahab and his party want to have the sake and eat it at the same time – as is the traditional PDP doctrine of politics”, Lone added.
“For three months PDP has been using all sorts of ridiculous diversionary tactics and frivolous statements to evade responsibility for the situation in the Valley as more than 15,000 civilians have been injured, nearly 95 having been killed and hundreds maimed and blinded. These bizarre and silly statements cannot provide PDP with an escape route. The Chief Minister and her Government are accountable and so is the PDP Member of Parliament – who was a key architect of the PDP-BJP Alliance – in the hope of becoming a Minister in New Delhi. Now that Baig Sahab has been abandoned and left without any assignment – he is trying very hard to get back into favour through such statements. By doing so he is insulting the people who have lost their kith and kin in this unrest”, Mohammad Akbar Lone said.
The NC North Zone Head also expressed disappointment at the termination and suspension of various government employees on political and ideological grounds and said it doesn't behove the Government to be vindictive and retributive at a time when reconciliation was the need of the hour. (KNS)
