Muslims, not pandits suffered most during turmoil: Hakeem Yaseen

'Pandits should not to fall prey to communal elements'

Srinagar, Jan 21 (KNS): The PDF chief and legislator from Central Kashmir’s Khansahib, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said Thursday that the pandits are the integral part of Kashmir however the community must not fall prey to communal elements and vitiate the inter-religious harmony.
In a statement issued here, Hakeem said the community’s return is much awaited and that the Muslims of Kashmir have always yearned for home coming of their pandit brothers.
However, the PDP chief also cautioned that some communal elements are waiting in wings to tear apart JK’s secular fabric for which the state is unknown since centuries in the outer world. He said that the fact of the matter is that the Muslims in Kashmir have suffered more than the pandits and are still bearing the brunt of the decades old conflict.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He also stated that holding Muslims responsible for the exodus of pandits from Kashmir at the time of militancy’s onset would be utterly and historically wrong. “Truth is that the Muslim youth in Kashmir continue to suffer due to the lack of employment opportunities, turmoil which has engulfed the region and uncertainties which are marring the developmental proposals all across. On the contrary, pandits enjoy government’s patronage. They are being offered jobs, doles and sops. They are being accorded residential colonies and what not. Any sane person can resolve who has suffered the worst in Kashmir since the past 26 years,” said Hakeem Yaseen. (KNS)
