Srinagar, Nov 09 (KNS): PHDCCI on Tuesday said that Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya has been elevated to the level of managing committee of PHDCCI, New Delhi, while Baldev Singh Raina has been re-appointed as the chairman of the PHD Chamber Of Commerce & Industry Kashmir region for the year 2021-22 during the 

116th Annual General meeting of PHDCCI held at New Delhi.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that Vicky Shaw has been appointed as co-chair of Kashmir region along with Arshad Nizam Shawl, who also has been re-appointed as co-chair of Kashmir region.

“We are delighted to welcome Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya in the managing committee of PHDCCI. PHDCCI would surely benefit from his long experience in the organization and his earlier stint in PHDCCI as chairman of Kashmir region," said president PHDCCI, Pradeep Multani.

Mushtaq Chaya while commenting on the development said that he is deeply honoured, touched and inspired by the trust shown by PHDCCI leadership.  

Expressing gratitude and talking about his role, Baldev Singh Raina, the founding chairman and MD of Peaks Group of companies said that he is thankful for PHDCCI’s vote of confidence in re-appointing his as the chairperson of PHDCCI Kashmir region. 

“This position gives me another opportunity to work within the PHDCCI framework in meeting its objectives of industry growth at one level, and the nation’s growth at another. I look forward to engaging with industry leaders of J&K to foster an ecosystem of innovation and growth, and towards building consensus between the industry and the policymakers. PHDCCI has immensely contributed in resolving the issues of trade and industry & shaping the policies of the Centre and J&K,” he said. 

Commenting on the development, Vicky Shaw, founding chairman of Shaw Art Palace and Almas Resorts (Home stay) Hospitality said that he is honoured to have this opportunity. 

“Thanks to PHDCCI for confidently appointing me as co-chair of the PHDCCI-Kashmir region,” he said.

Shaw is in the third generation from a well-known family in Art and Craft Manufacturers and Exporters with a robust retail network from all over the globe. 

The Shaw Art Palace since ages has been assisting artisans to make traditional heirlooms such as carpets, shawls, indigenous handicrafts and have been providing jobs to artisans from generations. He has served as the president of professional Golfers Association of India for six years. 

Arshad Shawl, founder and director at Alliance Advertising and Marketing and co-owner of Kashmir Monitor (English Daily) expressed gratitude for being re-appointed as co-chair of Kashmir. 

He further said that he is grateful that confidence has been expressed in his by PHDCCI leadership. “With team PHDCCI-Kashmir, we will take everyone together to take J&K towards economic development.”

Notably, these new appointments were made after Pradeep Multani, Saket Dalmia and Sanjeev Aggarwal took over as president, senior vice-president and vice-president respectively of the PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry in 116th Annual General meeting held at New Delhi. (KNS)
