Bandipora, May 19 (KNS): A mushaira focusing on drug abuse awareness was organised at the Gujjar and Bakarwal Boys Hostel in Bandipora as part of the ongoing activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan-2026, officials said on Tuesday.
Around 10 hostel inmates participated in the poetry recitation session and presented poems highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction on individuals and society.
The participants also recited poetry centred on themes such as hope, discipline, positive choices and social responsibility, officials said.
Officials said the event aimed to create awareness against substance abuse through literature and creative expression while encouraging students to use poetry as a medium for social messaging.
The mushaira was attended by hostel warden Bashir Ahmad Khan and other staff members, who appreciated the students for their participation and literary talent.
The programme concluded with a collective message promoting a healthy and drug-free society, officials added.(KNS).
