SRINAGAR, May 17 (KNS): Apni Party State Secretary and district President Budgam Muntazir Mohi-ud-Din on Monday took a strong exception to the government decision in which a proposed Covid Specific Hospital that was to be built over 80 Kanals of land in Reshipora-Budgam is now been relocated to Khonmoh-Srinagar.

While issuing a statement here to Kashmir news service (KNS), Muntazir Mohi-ud-din said that such a decision is in disparity with the aspirations of the people of Budgam wherein even trees have been cleared for the construction of this proposed hospital.

“When the whole country is grappling with the Covid-19 crisis, the decision of creating a Covid specific hospital in Budgam came as a gospel of joy for the locals, as the district immensely lacks in necessary medical infrastructure. However, even when the ground was cleared for the construction to begin, an order which read that this proposed hospital now stands relocated to Khonmoh deeply shocked the people. It appears that some influential people who are close to the power corridors have manoeuvred this decision which is a sheer act of discrimination about which the people of Budgam are deeply angered at,” he observed.

He said that in these trying times wherein the pandemic is wreaking havoc, the construction of such a hospital in Budgam remains the prime demand of the people and the government must reciprocate with it.

“There was another proposal of the government in which a spacious 300-bed trauma hospital was to be constructed in this district. Now as the government has ardently shifted the early proposed Covid specific Hospital to Khonmoh, the people of Budgam strongly urge the government to reconsider the Trauma Hospital project and without any further delay start its work over the current cleared 80 kanals of land.

This will immensely bolster the strength of medical infrastructure in the district and will provide relief to the locals from travelling to other districts for treatment. This will also help to contain the inter-district spread of Covid-19 infection," he demanded.(KNS)
