Mughal Road, Santhan Highway to be opened to traffic from July 5:LG Manoj Sinha

Srinagar 01 July (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that Mughal Road and Santhan Highway would be opened to the public from July 5 and vehicles would be plying on the said highways from July 5 as per normal. 

 

 Manoj Sinha said that over the last several days, Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar and Doda districts Several delegations met him and asked for the opening of Mughal Road and Santhan Highway. However, on Thursday "we decided that the historic Mughal Road and Santhan Highway would be opened to the public from July 5". 

 

 The Governor further said that the reopening of these highways would not only facilitate the movement of people but also improve the overall economy of Jammu and Kashmir and "I have issued orders in this regard". 

 

It is worth mentioning that the historic Mughal Road was closed after snowfall in November last year and after 6 months, the Mughal Road was reopened in June this year only for freight vehicles and patients.(KNS)
