Srinagar, April 22 (KNS): Strongly coming over the recent unscheduled frequent power cuts, particularly during Sehri and Iftar time PC Youth General Secretary Mudasir Karim has said that the PDD department during winters had worked tremendously in maintaining the electric supply but has now failed to deliver during the pious month of Ramadhan making general public to suffer badly.

He said that it is ironic that despite knowing well about the religious importance of Ramadhan and the important days observed in the last ten days of this holy month, in particular, people of Kashmir have been left to celebrate these days in complete darkness.

He also urged the power department to provide a one-time amnesty in electric tariffs for those consumers who had suffered from huge financial losses due to the Covid 19 lockdown and post abrogation of Article 370. He said that the PDD department used to make amnesty schemes for the consumers every year but this is the first time that despite knowing about the problems and losses due to Covid 19 etc and even after the fervent appeals from various quarters for the same.

Mudasir appealed to the LG Administration to redress this grave issue by making a proper electric supply to the consumers during these last ten days so that people may not face any inconvenience during Iftar and Sehri time. He said that LG Administration needs to ensure the adequate supply in the UT and it should not suffer while mitigating the demand of other states which are suffering due to a shortage of coal for power production. He also urged for adequate supply of water, Ration and LPG including proper check on markets to curb the rising prices on essential commodities as well a head of Eid ul Fitr. (KNS)
