Bandipora, Jul 28 (KNS): The much hyped Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” campaign launched three years back in order to make India clean seems to have failed in North Kashmir's Bandipora district as heaps of garbage could be seen accumulating in the town and its adjoining areas .
However, the concerned authorities have failed to look into the matter with taking no action in this regard.
The heaps of garbage piling in the areas seem that the department has miserably failed to implement Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The people here in Bandipora town and its adjoining areas here have expressed resentment over the mission, saying that it has failed on the ground.
In the name of Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan’ lakh of rupees are being drawn for the cleanliness of town, locals demanded an enquiry should be initiated to find the facts as to where the amount goes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Locals from Bagh, Nusoo Nowpora and other areas said that the Municipal Committee (MC) has turned their eye blind over the heaps of grange that could be seen piling on the road.
They said the stinking smell emanating from the site was causing inconvenience to them. “From past two years, we are requesting MCB Bandipora to provide dustbins, but all in vein,” he added.
AEE Municipal Committee Wali Mohammad Wani said that they didn’t receive any fund in this regard. “We will provide dustbins and construct toilets in town. We are trying our level best to make town neat and clean,” he added. (KNS)
