Srinagar, May 3 (KNS): Member of Parliament from Baramulla Engineer Rashid could not accompany his critically ill father to Delhi due to court-imposed movement restrictions, his party said on Sunday.
Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said Rashid’s father, Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, was shifted from SMHS Hospital in Srinagar to AIIMS Delhi on medical advice following deterioration in his condition.
He said the restrictions confining the MP’s movement between his Jawahar Nagar residence and SMHS Hospital prevented him from travelling to Delhi.
According to the spokesperson, Rashid was visibly distressed and broke down after being unable to accompany his father during the transfer.
The party said it will move the High Court on Monday seeking permission for the MP to stay with his father in Delhi, terming it a humanitarian matter requiring urgent consideration.
Nabi also appealed to the authorities to take a compassionate view and urged people to pray for Sheikh’s recovery, while thanking doctors and paramedical staff for their care.(KNS)
