Monga concerned over deteriorating power situation in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 18 (KNS): While expressing serious concern and anger over the deteriorating power situation in the Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress (JKPCC) vice president and MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga Wednesday said it seems government has virtually decided to keep the people in perpetual darkness.
“With the onset of autumn, the Valley is once again reeling under severe power crisis as Power Development Department is resorting to unscheduled curtailments giving tough time to people especially students who are preparing for exams. In every nook and corner of the Valley, people every day are seen protesting against unscheduled curtailments, but it seems government is least bothered,” Monga said in a statement to KNS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“Instead of providing hassle free power to consumers, the PDD is sending inflated bills to them worsening the situation further. It is high time government takes note of the problems of the people as harsh winter is approaching fast,” he added.
The Congress vice president said people in Kashmir have been left helpless in the absence of basic amenities, especially power and essential commodities.
“Only recently Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed had directed the PDD to ensure supply of power as per schedule. But it seems the PDD authorities are not taking his directions seriously,” Monga said. (KNS)
