Molvi Imran Ansari on Sonamarg Incident: Disrespect in the Name of Fun Will Not Be Tolerated

Srinagar, 20 (KNS) ; The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference and President of the All J&K Shia Association, Molvi Imran Ansari, today reacted strongly to the disturbing visuals that surfaced from Sonamarg, terming the incident “deeply unfortunate and shameful.”

He said that Kashmir has always welcomed tourists with open arms, warmth, and dignity, but hooliganism in the name of “fun” including shirtless dancing on roads, blocking traffic, harassing passersby, and disturbing families cannot and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He added that Islam teaches Haya, respect for women, elders, and guests. “Which religion, which culture, which civilization allows men to behave in a way that makes mothers, sisters, and families uncomfortable in public spaces?” he asked. “This land is not a playground for obscenity or roadside spectacles.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSonamarg is a place of natural beauty, peace, and spirituality not chaos.”

Molvi Imran Ansari further stated that those involved cannot be dismissed as children. “Age brings responsibility. If one has the sense to travel, one must also have the sense to behave,” he said. “Tourism is welcome, but disrespect is not. Fun should never come at the cost of public order, local dignity, or women’s safety.”

He emphasized that Kashmir thrives on tourism, hospitality, and brotherhood, but respect is the minimum price of entry. “Visitors are our guests, and guests are honoured here. But honour works both ways,” he added. “Let this be absolutely clear: enjoy Kashmir, admire its beauty, but respect its people, culture, faith, and laws.” KNS)
