Modi-Mehbooba meet “positive”

Govt formation seems nearer

Srinagar, Mar 22 (KNS): The political clouds and suspense on government formation in the state seem to end before the end of the month after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti's held "positive" meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday forenoon in New Delhi.
Mehbooba and Modi met for half an hour at the latter’s 7 Race Course residence today forenoon after over two months of suspense, speculations and several rounds of negotiations between the leaders of the two parties in J&K and in New Delhi.
Though it is not clear what transpired between the two in the meeting, whether BJP agreed to give a timeframe on implementation of agenda of alliance, Mehbooba called the meeting “good and positive”.
The meeting started at 10.35 this morning at 7RCR. Mehbooba was accompanied by PDP legislator and former state finance minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu.
Soon after her meeting with Modi, Mehbooba said that the meeting was very positive and she will take the next step once she reaches Srinagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“I have called a Legislative Party meeting on Thursday to decide how to take next step forward. It is good that when you meet the prime minister of the country and talk positively about how to resolve the problems of the people,” she said.
The state is under Governor rule since January 7 after the demise of PDP patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in AIIMS after his illness.
The government formation was delayed after PDP asked the BJP a assurance and timeline to implement the ‘Agenda of Alliance’ which was drafted between the two partners after two months of discussions.
PDP is holding the Legislature Party meeting on Thursday afternoon where the legislators will elect the leader for the chief ministerial post. Since PDP is the majority party in the Assembly, as per constitution of the state it has to choose the LP leader who can be sworn as next CM with the support of second largest party, which is BJP.
