Modi led Govt. plunged future of educated youth into darkness: Kadfeen

Srinagar, Mar 25 (KNS): Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary on Tuesday slammed Narendra Modi led government over playing with the future of country’s millions of educated youth while setting worst ever trend of unemployment in India.

Kadfeen said in a statement that on one side hollow slogans are made by the BJP to hoodwink people while on the other side, there is an unprecedented spike being witnessed in unemployment plunging the future of millions of educated youth into chaos.  He aid that the recent survey done by International Labour Organisation (ILO) reveals that 81% of all employed persons in India make a living by working in the informal sector, with only 6.5% in the formal sector and 0.8% in the household sector. The survey states that a growing number (98.3%) of youth aged 15-24 in informal employment in the region compared with 67.1% of adult workers (25+).

Kadfeen said that earlier, this year, ILO had stated that out of the 535 million labor force in India in 2019, some 398.6 million will have poor quality jobs. The report had also claimed that of 2017, 23.4% of the working population was in extreme or moderate poverty, down from over 44% a decade back.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The report said by 2019, India will have 18.9 million unemployed people or 9.76% of such population worldwide —an increase from 18.3 million in 2017.

The Congress leader added that as per the census 2011, India has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35. It is expected that, in 2020, the average age of an Indian will be 29 years, compared to 37 for China and 48 for Japan; and, by 2030, India's dependency ratio should be just over 0.4.

Kadfeen added that according to the World Bank report published on May 2, more than eight million jobs are required every year for India to keep its employment rate constant, as its working-age population (above 15 years) is increasing by 1.3 million every month. The report said half of India’s 1.3 billion people are below 25 and two-thirds are under 35 and they are looking for jobs.

He said that the present time is an opportunity available to the people ask Modi government about the promises it made in 2014 and why the country is reeling under such dreadful crises. (KNS)
