Mobile internet restored in Srinagar, Budgam after 6 days  

Srinagar, Sept 07 (KNS): The mobile internet services were restored in Srinagar and Budgam districts on Tuesday evening after remaining suspended for at least 6 days. 

Earlier, Kashmir Zone police, while quoting IGP Kashmir on its official Twitter handle had said that mobile internet service will be restored in the twin districts at 7 pm today and had stated the inconvenience caused to students due to suspension of mobile internet was regretted. 
 
"Mobile internet will be open in Srinagar & Budgam today by 7pm. Regret inconvenience caused to students in studies: IGP Kashmir," police Tweeted. 

Notably, voice calling, broadband and mobile internet services were suspended in the Kashmir valley on late Wednesday night after the death of veteran Hurriyat leader SAS Geelani after a prolonged illness. 

The authorities had also imposed restrictions across the Kashmir valley as a precautionary measure following the death of SAS Geelani at his residence in Hyderpora area of Srinagar on Wednesday late evening. 

On Friday evening, voice calling, and broadband internet services were restored in the valley after two days, while mobile internet service remained suspended for 4 days. The mobile internet services were restored on Monday evening in all districts of Kashmir except for Srinagar and Budgam. 

The authorities also eased restrictions on Monday, which were imposed across the valley following the death of SAS Geelani as a precautionary measure. (KNS)
