MMU expresses concern over arrest of Mirwaiz

Terms killing of civilians as worst form of state terrorism

Srinagar, Aug 29 (KNS): Expressing serious concern over the house arrest of their chief and Hurriyat (M) Chairman for 48 days and his subsequent arrest for the past four days, Jammu Kashmir Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Monday condemned the arrest of Kashmir’s top religious and political leader.
In a statement issued to KNS, the MMU said their prominent leaders while condemning the arrest of the Mirwaiz said this was ideological and political defeat of the government as the APHC Chairman had been arrested to suppress the voice that represents the sentiments of the people for their right to self determination.
The statement said for taking Kashmir’s resistance movement to its logical conclusion, people had been steadfast and consistent and were offering sacrifices of their lives and properties while the leadership and the Ulemas too had rendered selfless sacrifices in this regard.
The MMU leaders said in the statement that the Mirwaiz was following into the footsteps of his ancestors and displaying courage and gumptions just like the previous Mirwaizain who had from time to time offered uncountable sacrifices for the Kashmir cause.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Terming the killing of over 70 civilians and injuries to more than 7500 persons, hundreds of who had been blinded, maimed and handicapped as the worst form of state terrorism, the MMC leaders prayed to the Almighty Allah to grant a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous to all the youth martyred during the ongoing uprising and early recovery of the injured.
Stressing that people of Kashmir were united and steadfast, the MMU statement said Kashmiris could get their right to self determination only by being consistent despite being caught in difficult times and witnessing curfews, restrictions and curbs.
Condemning the arrest spree of the united resistance leaders and youth, use of force on the people, ransacking of residences, beating the inmates to pulp, desecration of Masjids and Darasgahs, the statement condemned these incidents and termed them as violations of all basic rights of the people.
