An extraordinary meeting of Mutheda- Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) was today convened by APHC Chairman and head of MMU, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal.
While addressing the meeting, Mirwaiz stated that the recent court order declaring ban on beef was a clear curt intervention in the religious affairs of Muslims. He stated that Muslims of Kashmir have to adopt and put forward a united strategy against this move which is aimed to hurt our religious sentiments.
APHC Chairman stated that by conducting this MMU meeting, we want to communicate to the world and Kashmiris that there was no room for any anti-Muslim law in the Muslim majority Jammu & Kashmir, adding, any such court or administrative orders being implemented on the behest of communal forces of India would be met with fierce resistance.
Mirwaiz stated that Kashmir has remained a symbol of communal bonhomie. He stated that the majority community has protected the rights of minorities and would continue to do so, but warned that nobody would be allowed to play with the religious sentiments and Islamic character of Kashmir at any cost.
Mirwaiz stated that Kashmiris were facing threats on both external and internal fronts from the government and divisive communal forces. He stated that sometime the issue of settling refugees is raked up , sometimes the govt wants to build separate colonies for pandits and retired army men, sometimes it talks of rescinding article 370, and now it has they have come under the garb of courts to ban beef in the state, adding, all such moves are aimed to weaken the Islamic character of Kashmiris. He declared that ulemas, custodian of masjids, Imams, religious political and social organizations, intellectuals and law experts all stand united on this issue.
On the occasion, the MMU participants unanimously passed a resolution which will be presented on juma and eid prayers before the Muslims of J&K.
The resolution declares that the recent ban on beef by the court was against the Islamic codes and direct intervention in the religious affairs of Muslims. While rejecting the ban on beef, MMU has also urged the people to reject this verdict of the court as no court, government or individual can prohibit what is lawful and halaal in Islam.
The MMU also asked the government to come clear on its mysterious silence on the issue.
The resolution also demands that liquor should be completely banned in the Muslim majority state of Jammu and Kashmir as it is against the religious teachings in Islam.
They also warned the Govt, particularly the police to desist from haressing or stopping people to slaughter, eat or sell bovines or else a full-fledged public agitation against the Govt. will be started.
The MMU also called upon the people to organise collective slaughtering of bovine on the coming occasion of Eid-Ul-Azha in Eidgahs and other places all across the state to fulfil their religious obligations and register protest against the court order.
