Srinagar, Sep 3 (KNS): Amid rising water levels in the Jhelum River, MLA Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous on Tuesday visited her constituency to review the situation and take stock of preventive measures.

Acting on the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Firdous instructed the irrigation department to keep sufficient sandbags and other essential materials ready to minimize the impact of any possible flooding.

During her visit, the MLA interacted with locals, listened to their concerns, and directed officials to speed up pending works to avoid inconvenience to residents.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“Flood control measures must be in place without delay, and public safety should be the top priority,” she said, urging authorities to remain alert and prepared.

Habba Kadal has faced repeated challenges during floods, most notably in 2014, when many families suffered heavy losses. While some received compensation, several poor residents were left out. MLA Firdous said current efforts are focused on preventing a repeat of such hardships this time.(KNS)
